Toys, Toys, Toys!
I've found some great collectibles and toys over the last few weeks. Take a look...
Everyone is anticipating the release of the Minion movie this July. I was really excited when I found Minion Dave and Minion Stuart. They are so funny that I almost kept these for myself and my granddaughter.
Legos are still hot, hot, hot! I don't care what model, kids and AFOL (adult fans of Legos) can't get enough of these toys. I recently got my hands or several sets.
Another hard to keep on the shelf toy is Minecraft. It's a strange phenomenon how these toys fly out of the stores. Not much to them but obviously our kids imaginations are making this toy one of the hottest items in stores.

One of the challenges my family has faced over the past couple of weeks is dealing with the steamy heat here in Virginia. Our central air conditioning unit died one 90 degree afternoon! Luckily, we were able to get a hold of two window units to use while the new system is being installed. Of course, that didn't help us much while cleaning out the attic to make room for the new unit. It's over 100 degrees up there!! While digging through the 15 years of "stuff" (I'll keep this clean), I came across my daughter's Ty Beanie Baby collection. Remember those cute little bean bags? She didn't want them and gave the ok to list them in the store. They didn't turn out to be the investment that was going to send your kids to college but they are still valued by collectors. No matter what your interest, you can't deny how cute they are...
Lastly, my favorite find of all...Tinky Winky, the purple Teletubbies talking doll. The cutest and most annoying toy of the 1990's. I had to hide this one to stop all the crying from my two year old granddaughter.
This Sunday is Father's Day...Don't forget to call your Dad :)

Who Is Bob Dylan?
I came across a few of these Bob Dylan t-shirts the other day while sourcing products for the store. It was a great score as they are new with the tags, button pins, and I got sizes Large and X-Large.
It occurred to me when I was taking pictures of them that I really didn't know that much about Bob Dylan. My first exposure to him was when I was in high school and he sang a line in the Michael Jackson's "We Are The World." As teenagers do, we spent the next several weeks doing our best Dylan impressions.

I really don't listen to his music and can't say that I am a fan. My only other exposure to this singer has been through the many impressions by comedians. Here's one I like by Jimmy Fallon.
I decided to look him up...Here are some things I learned about the controversial singer.
1. He was born Bobby Zimmerman on May 24, 1941.
2. In the early years of his career, he played harmonica for a Harry Belafonte recording.
3. Many of his lyrics became anthems for civil rights and anti-war movements.
4. Dylan flunked out of the University of Minnesota.
5. He has been actively performing since 1959.
6. Bob Dylan appeared in the first episode of The Johnny Cash Show.
7. His first wife, Sara Lownds, was a Playboy bunny.
8. Dylan toured with the Grateful Dead in 1987.
9. He is an accomplished painter.
10. He is the winner of ten Grammy Awards.
So now you and I know a little more about Dylan.

Does You Accessorize Your Office?
When I was working full time in an office, looking at the same four walls everyday was so boring. To overcome the boredom, I started decorating my office to match the season or holiday. I had the typical decorations...Valentines brought out the heart shaped candy dish with lots of chocolate, Easter meant bunnies and eggs, and out rolled the pumpkins for Autumn and Halloween.
I amassed a great collection of solar powered toys from The Dollar Store. These were the most entertaining with their little heads bobbing and hips swaying. They all lined the windowsill behind my desk and I would watch them dance as I waited on the line for customers to come to the phone. After Thanksgiving I would bring out my snowman and elves to start the Christmas season.
Among my holiday tackle was an assortment of coffee mugs. A happy reminder every morning of the pending festivities. Here are some great mugs currently listed at Slater's Closet. With only 50 days until Christmas you need to get ready to accessorize!
